Choosing your wedding colours is very important; not only will it create and enhance the mood and liveliness of the event, it is also an extension of you and will affect everything you choose for your wedding. From the ink and paper of your invitations, to your bouquets, centrepieces and floral arrangements and even your cake!
It is common to be overwhelmed with the amount of colours choices available. Gone are the days where you could have one of five block colours and that was it. Nowadays there are an array of tones and hues of every colour and variations of pattern, ombre and textures. Many brides are unsure of where to begin when determining the colour scheme for their big day.
One way is to choose your favourite colour, or a colour that works with the look and feel you wish to create for your wedding day. Another fun way to determine your colour scheme is to find something that inspires you or has a special meaning or sentimental touch. It could be a favourite place that you as a couple love; perhaps ocean blue for that favourite beach spot or purple for the lavender farm that you two first holidayed at together. Or it could be representative of your favourite activities together, like the jersey colour of your team. Let your creativity lead the way and don’t be afraid of colour – remember it is your day so have only things you love!
Once the colour has been chosen, it is all about implementing the colours into your wedding. Some effective ways to present your chosen colour scheme to your guests is through your bouquets, centrepieces and floral arrangements, chair sashes, table runners, lighting, candy buffet and even your invitations and cake.
Here are a few of our all time favourite colour schemes:
There are so many variations of blue you can choose from – soft or pale blues can be soothing and calming or when using royals or navy blue it can be bold and create a dramatic statement. Blue can of course fit in with “something blue”, which many brides want to incorporate into their weddings. Why not consider pairing multiple shades of this hue, along with either white, silver or gold.
Orange, Purple & Pink
These colours are bright, fun and sets the tone of a happy and upbeat feeling. Why not combine all three colours, or just choose one to splash across a white room to really bring the space to life.
Red represent passion, excitement and it is the colour of love. Odds are that if you go with this colour scheme your wedding will be luxe, energetic and dramatic, in the best possible way!
Considering a classic approach? White is the classic wedding colour, simply add some sparkle, or even just a hint of pastel colour will give you that traditional feeling, yet with an elegant twist.
Black & White
A black and white colour scheme is timelessly elegant and this combination will never go out of fashion. It is classic, elegant and sophisticated!
At All About Venues, we believe that whether it is a dash of colour or pairing several colours your colour scheme and how it is applied to the elements of your wedding can really enhance your wedding and that why we are here to help you to make your dream wedding a reality.
